With the Pottery Throwndown now in full swing on the BBC we've released some new ceramics workshops for February and March.

Our throwing courses have previously proved very popular. The course is generally about 2 hours and in groups of 6. We have 3 potters wheels currently (though with the expansion plans we're hoping to get a couple more) you work in pairs on a wheel taking turns to throw. Tom gives a demo at the beginning of the session showing some basic techniques you'll be using during the course. Tom is on hand throughout the course along with our studio assistant Emily to help you with the throwing. You should expect to throw 4-5 pieces. The price of the these courses is £20 which includes one fired and glazed piece, you are welcome to purchase any of the other pieces with a cost of £6 to cover the cost of glazing and firing. (pieces are ready to collect generally 2 weeks after a course.)

We have the following throwing courses on February 18th 10.30-12.30pm or February 25th 10.30-12.30pm, 1.30-3.30pm. Bookings can be made online here-

We've also released a date for a new course- we're going to be offering a flower vase coiling course on March 11th 1-3.30pm( price £25). Coiling is a hand building technique, Tom will guide you through all the steps to make a coiled vase. You will have time to produce a couple of vases, one vase is included in the price of the course and will be fired and glazed for you in time for Mothers day. Extra vases can be fired and glazed at a price of £15 each. We've decided on this course as a great opportunity to create a vase for yourself in time for spring flowers, to gift as a gift for mothers day or to treat your mum to the course to create her own vase for mothers day.

Bookings can be made here-

If you did watch the pottery throw down last night then you will have seen the first technical challenge of the series, to throw a sealed cone with 5lbs of clay in 15 minutes... we thought that this series it would be fun for us to challenge our potter Tom to the challenges each week! if you'd like to keep up to date with these then please check our Facebook page each week.
