The Process
How each piece is made
We believe in quality over quantity. Every piece starts as a hand-designed sketch and sample, then take 2 to 3 weeks to make by hand in our workshop, from casting to final. firing.
Step 1.
Testing the idea
Every piece starts as a single sample, thrown and hand built by Tom. We test deifferent shapes, glazes and details until one version is chosen and moulds are made.
Step 2.
Slip cast by hand
Liquid clay is hand-poured into each mould and left to set. Excess clay is drained to ensure the perfect thickness of each piece.
Step 3.
Shaped & Detailed
Once the clay is "leather hard", each piece is trimmed by hand. Any carving, embossing or stamping is added at this stage of the process.
Step 4.
The First Firing
Once fully dry, each piece goes through its bisque firing, which hardens the clay and prepares it for glaze.
Step 5.
Glazed by Hand
Every piece is glazed individually by hand, one at a time, in our workshop.
Step 6.
The final firing
A second firing sets the glaze. This is what makes each piece durable, easy to clean and food safe for everyday use.
