This week has seen an awful lot of throwing in the workshop!

We're busy preparing for Mother's Day already. The plan for the Mother's day window is to fill it full of beautiful vases full of flowers that will make perfect Mothers day gifts. This will time perfectly with our Vase Building course which is on the 11th of March. We do have a couple of spaces left if anyone would like to take part-

Here are some of the vases Tom has been creating for the occasion. They include some gorgeous jugs which along with having flowers in would make perfect wine or water carafes.

The centre piece of the Mothers day window will be a huge Vase filled to the brim with flowers. We're planning on running a raffle to win the gorgeous vase, the winner will be able to collect the vase the Saturday before mothers day making a perfect mothers day gift for the lucky winner! Here is the beast after been thrown on the wheel this week-

Emily our chief decoration maker has also been super busy making a new mothers day range of decorations, all our decorations are always super popular so it's nice that we get to make a variation through out the year-

Talking of decorations! last saturday was our Valentines Heart Giveaway! We hid 30 ceramic hearts up and down the high street here in Porthmadog. I'm pleased to say they all went really quickly and to lots of local homes! thank you to everyone who went out to find one. We'll be organising a similar event for easter so please keep an eye out on our Facebook page for more details on that soon.

Other shapes That Tom has been throwing this week is of course the throw down challenge from The Great Pottery Throw down. This week was week 3, and the challenge was to throw off the hump. This isn't something Tom has ever done before... so it was a challenge! with 20 pounds of clay and 15 minutes Tom had to throw as many rice bowls as possible. These needed to be all a constant size, no holes... Tom made 17 consistent bowls within the time! 4 more than the winning throw down contestant. Not bad for a man who's never thrown off the hump! he's decided to fire and glaze these pots selling them at £10 each to raise some funds for the new Clay Collage in Stoke- this is a new venture to train future potters. many collages and universities are getting rid of their ceramics departments and it's important to keep this skill alive! if you'd like to buy one of the rice pots please pop us an email on glosters@mail.com

As well as all of this! We changed our window display also! Phew! what a busy week!? With half term just around the corner we've gone for a out door adventure theme with a good bit of pancake making thrown in for good measure!

Well... that's the update for now! We have a morning throwing class tomorrow before heading out for a family birthday celebration with tom's brother who hit the big 40 this week... time for some beverages I'd say ;)
