Up! Up! And Away!

Another busy week despite the Easter holidays being over, but we've got another bank holiday this weekend!
So what have we been up to? Well first up time to change the window from Easter to something bright and lusting for summer! So we opted for some super colourful hot air balloons. We've featured the new blankets and cushions by Sian O'doherty and lampshades from Mamws along with lamp stands from Nick James, tea towels from Poppy Treffrey, The Cat in the Shoe, Glosters candles, Jo Downs, Peris and Corr prints, Sarah Myatt Glass and a Glosters Vase of Spring blooms.
A mile stone this week was our Arthur turning 7! Can't believe this August will be 7 years since we brought the wrinkly pup home! He wasn't able to celebrate for long because he was off to the vet this week to have a tooth removed... it was the first day I've ever worked at Glosters with out him and it was pretty quiet without the snoring... he's back today though and making up for it!
As the summer fast approaches we're working really hard in the workshop on the summer collection. Something we've toyed with for a while is using transfers on some of the pieces. When we owned a cafe we used vintage china tea cups along side Tom's mini jugs and always fancied being able to transfer some of the vintage patterns to the jugs, this week we've been having a play with this idea and here are some of the samples, we'll be firing these, if they turn out okay this is something we'll be continuing with.
The kiln has been super busy firing lots of orders for shops and also lots of vases for the our shop, these are quickly becoming our best sellers! I popped along to the local florist in Porthmadog, Lili Wen, and bought some fabulous country garden style blooms to fill one of our big vases in the window with.
This week I also took delivery of our business cards, we tend to order these every 6 months or so, generally 1000 at a time! I also ordered some new cards for our brooch range and new earring range that we're working on. As well as these we now have cute cards that go with each online order encouraging our customers to share photo's of they're new goodies online with us, we plan on featuring these on our blog, it's always nice to see where pieces end up.
Pieces are emerging from the workshop slowly for the Summer collection. This week has seen a couple of pots, vases and decorations, all featuring the sand pattern inspired by the local beach at Borth-y-Gest.
Now that we have a few working in the pottery workshop you'll see pieces are beginning to appear with initials alongside the Glosters logo, EC is Emily's maker mark, TG is Tom's maker mark.
Another throwing course tomorrow, but fully booked... spaces available in June and August if you fancy a go, all details are on our website.
If you fancy a chuckle... tune into Cegin Bryn this coming Wednesday... for a whole episode of me cooking with Bryn!
Next week our blog will go live on Thursday rather than friday as we're off to a friends wedding in London via a few shops and potteries obviously!
Have a great Bank Holiday!
